Art Exhibition Preview:  "Oppression", paintings by Yvette Ribot-Smith.  1900 - 2100 hrs. Free


 At 1930 hrs, there will be a discussion lead by Yvette on  “POLITICAL ART  - the role, responsibilities

 and censorship of political art "


“My intention in my art work is to create a space for empathy; a vehicle for connection and solidarity. The aim is to pay tribute to the people whose stories need to be remembered in an atmosphere of respect and humility”

The exhibition will run until 30 May and can be viewed anytime the club is open which will always be the case on  Friday evenings.






         

     


     SATURDAY 4 MAY

 

Rally in the Club in Support of Palestine. 1400 - 1700 hrs. Free. An invited panel of speakers followed by  workshops on how  individuals and groups can respond.

Entry by Donation with surplus going to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

* Working on Palestinian Embroidery

Led by Aysha Yilmaz.

Embroidery is an important part of Palestinian culture with every design having a meaning. Beginners welcome. All materials provided.

* Messages and poems to send to children of Gaza

The Hands Up Project links young people across the world with those in Palestine. 

 Children will be invited to read poems  and/or messages to send by video (Free).

This session will be coordinated by Susan Piper who volunteers with the project.
